SPIKY DUAL COLOR MOBILE POUCH

Hey you all,  Sorry I have been MIA for a long time. But I hardly spent time working on a craft the last couple yrs. I had been wanting to get a mobile pouch for a while now. I was also contemplating whether I should make one myself. The latter thought won and here we are. I used some leftover yarn from my stock. Blue / Yellow - the classic colour combination. So I decided to go with it. It turned out beautiful, better than I imagined. Here are some pics of the WIP. Contact me for the pattern.... ENJOY !!

Peach and Black Baby Boots

Arent these the cutest ??? When my daughter's teacher found out I knit and crochet baby stuff, she placed an order with me for baby boots to gift to her friend, who had recently had a baby girl. She specifically requested for this color combination. To be honest, I was not sure if it would work. But lo and behold, it did !! It turned out amazing and I loved working with this color combo. Please find more pics below. Dont forget to contact me for the pattern !! I know the color looks pink here, but its actually peach. The color in the other pics is the actual color.

Summer cap for Chhavi

Chhavi poses in her new cap The past few days have been really sunny here in Mangalore (yes, I said sunny, even during the monsoons. Otherwise its always always and I repeat always raining in monsoon season). I thought that to avoid a sunstroke, its good to put a cap on Chhavi, when she's dropped to and picked up from her play school. I had a cap of mine lying around, but it proved too big for her (even on the tightest setting. Of course, I bought a very cute one online which had some cartoons and stuff (it said 3 - 8 yrs), but that turned out to be very small for her (a 2 yr 8 month old). I wonder how its gonna fit a 3 yr old, let alone an 8 yr old !!! Anyways, I had some multi-color cotton thread lying around and decided to put my knitting / crochet talent to some good use. Woollen would be too much in this already scorching heat. So I went on a quest to find some good patterns and decided on this one here . Its a fun and easy project which got over p...

Hojas y bayas Shawlette

I suddenly had the urge to try out a new pattern and went scourging for it at the ravelry site where people post free patterns for testing (with deadlines of course). I found this extremely pretty shawlette pattern and I had lots of scrap yarn lying around after my Bavarian Crochet Yarn Eater blanket project. Its a pretty crescent shaped shawlette. I did mine with lots of color, but you can also do it in a single color. It shot out pretty fast and had simple basic instructions - not complicated at all. Find pics of the finished project during blocking. I started this project on Aug 22nd and finished it on Sep 6th and I worked only in the night. No time in the mornings, since I am off to work. So its a very fast quick project to delve into.

WIP Cathedral Window Patchwork Project

After a long long time, I am back to crafting. The most interesting thing that I wanted to start AND complete was the cathedral window patchwork. All my friends in the craft meet-up had completed some amazing looking projects and I fell in love with the concept instantly. Cathedral Window project is basically a hand stitched patchwork, which comprises of contrasting pieces of cloth for the background and foreground, stitched so that it creates an illusion of small windows in the completed project. Of course, some people would prefer to machine stitch it, but the effect is so much better when its hand stitched. I started it off a month back and did the base in a plain pista green colored cloth and in the meet-up, when everyone met, I got the instructions from them on how to proceed with the coloured pieces for the foreground to depict the windows. Here are some pics from the project. Close Up View of the cathedral window Look at the bottom: Starting the cathedral window stitc...

Bavarian Crochet / Catherine Wheel / Yarn Eater Baby Blanket

I came across this pattern for a very gorgeous beautiful Bavarian crochet pattern when I was looking for baby blanket patterns for my sisters baby. At that time I knew my sister had a girl baby, and this seemed the perfect gift for the baby. I started off with a few yarns that I had bought during my Chickpet visit. When I started off with the blanket, I did not think much about how the rounds in the pattern would grow considerably bigger after every two rows. After two rows with each color, the woolen seemed not enough for more rows. They got over pretty soon. So I had to go shopping again for more yarn. This time I found pretty and bright colors which seemed perfect for a baby blanket and also I looked for multiple shades in the same colors. Here are some pics of the yarns I bought and the WIP blanket. Will update the post again when the entire blanket is done. Please leave your email ID in the comments section if you want the pattern.   More pics are yet to come...

Chickpet Visit

The craft meet up that I attend once a month had organized a visit to Chickpet on Ramzan day - main reason being to pick up some Macrame yarn. The visit was very fruitful and I ended up buying some good yarn and some crochet threads - I'll have to find something to do with it - maybe ill make a colorful tatted dress for my baby or something (in case its a girl - else ill have to find something else to do with it). I was overwhelmed by the amount of craft items we find there. I felt like buying anything and everything.  Oh, I forgot to say - I bought some large wooden beads to make my purse handle with. It was tough to find beads in that size. We had to look high and low. Since many of the stores sell in wholesale amounts there, its tough to get a small count of beads. Smaller ones are readily available. I just hope the purse turns out beautiful and its all worth the hunt. - So
